GMC has announced an extended driving range for the 2024 Hummer EV 3X Pickup. It applies to trucks equipped with the available 24-module battery. The truck is now said to get a GM-estimated range of 381 miles on vehicles without the Extreme Off-Road Package. With the package, the estimated range is 359 miles.

A Decent Range Increase for the Hummer EV 3X Pickup

EV driving range increases are a good thing. The new numbers for the Hummer EV 3X Pickup are a respectable jump. As a matter of fact, the 381-mile driving range is a 26-mile increase over the 2023 model year. And the 359-mile range is a 30-mile range increase over the previous year. This is a welcome feature for a vehicle that has the chops to venture into the backcountry, far from charging stations.

2024 Hummer EV 3X Pickup Standard Features

Standard features on the Hummer EV 3X trim include 35-inch all-terrain tires, four-wheel steer with CrabWalk, air ride suspension, Super Cruise, and Extract Mode. Oh, and there’s the Watts to Freedom “launch experience” mode. This mode propels the big Hummer from 0-60 mph in approximately three seconds when equipped with the 24-module battery. With the standard 20-module battery you’ll get to 60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds.

Is the Extreme Off-Road Road Package Worth Less Driving Range?

The Hummer EV 3X Pickup’s Extreme Off-Road Package includes all sorts of goodies for those who want to venture off the paved road. And make it back to the paved road. The list includes 35-inch mud-terrain tires, heavy-duty ball-spline half-shafts, front differential e-locker, rear virtual locking differential, a collection of underbody armor, and 18 total camera views including four additional underbody cameras. For those who frequent the dirt or just want to know they have the added capability the Off-Road Package provides, the tradeoff in driving range will probably be acceptable.

The 2024 Hummer EV 3X is built on GM’s Ultium Platform and will be on sale in the fall of 2023 to current reservation holders. Without the Extreme Off-Road Package, the truck will have a starting price of $106,945.
