The Petersen Automotive Museum held its second annual 2024 all-electric silent cruise-in at its facility in Los Angeles. The event is free to spectators and known for drawing an array of electric vehicles, rarely shown concepts, land speed record holders, and bespoke custom creations. By all accounts, the short-but-sweet 2024 all-electric cruise-in was a big success.

The event was open to all battery-powered vehicles, including all-electric, hydrogen, and hybrids.

The All-Electric Silent Cruise-In Was Open To All Battery-Powered Vehicles

Petersen’s annual all-electric silent cruise-in was open to all battery-powered vehicles, including full electric, hydrogen, and hybrids. The event drew an impressive number of vehicles from several manufacturers. Spectators could see vehicles from Alpha Romeo, Fisker, Lucid, Rivian, Tesla, GMC, and many more. Additionally, there were several modified EVs on hand. Example: There were a number of Tesla Cybertrucks and many sported colored wraps. Furthermore, Unplugged Performance brought out its off-road-ready Cybertruck that features several products from its UP INVINCIBLE line. Also on hand were some police-package Teslas and a Jaguar I-PACE Waymo One fully autonomous EV.

Spectators could see a few vehicles that have been converted from ICE power to electric.

But that’s not all. There were several electrified classic vehicles in attendance too. You could cast eyes on a 1957 Chevy and a 1953 Jeep among others.

Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen (on left), who is also a Petersen Automotive Museum board member, shared some of his insights on the industry.

Tesla’s Chief Designer Shared His Insights On The Industry

In addition to EVs, the event featured an illustrious panel of designers and car industry experts. This included renowned Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, who is also a Petersen Automotive Museum board member. He shared some of his insights on the industry. According to a 2008 press release from Tesla Investor Relations, von Holzhausen came to Tesla from Mazda North America, where he was Director of Design. Prior to that, he was the Design Manager for General Motors. Von Holzhausen was hired by Tesla to drive the design direction of Tesla Motors in the short term, and to build a world class design competency at Tesla Motors. The press release went on to note that he reports directly to Elon Musk.

Although the event only ran for a few hours it drew a strong number of vehicles that represented a wide swath of the EV world.
